Olatein will manufacture CanolaPRO® via a safe and sustainable process, using just two raw materials: canola and water.
Our starting point is canola cake or meal that is created by crushing canola seeds to produce canola oil without the use of solvents.
The protein is extracted from the meal – that remains after oil pressing - to ensure the best nutritional and functional value.
The end-product created by our proprietary extraction technology is CanolaPRO® a high-quality plant protein with exceptional nutritional quality.
But producing CanolaPRO® isn’t the end of the process. Our water recycling facility will cut down on water and energy use.
Via a waste-water treatment facility, we will convert organic matter in the wastewater into biogas for use as a valuable source of renewable energy. And finally, the non-protein part of the rapeseed cake will be fed to farm animals.
This way, the team here at Olatein is striving for a circular production process with minimal waste and the lowest carbon footprint possible.
